Supplemental Educational Services (SES)

PSC/SES Eligibility & Participation

Public Law 107-110 No Child Left Behind (NCLB) requires annual testing to measure student progress in reading and math. Schools are required to meet annual objectives for student performance, known as Adequate Yearly Progress or AYP. Schools that do not meet the Virginia Department of Education standard for AYP, must meet one of the following options:

Option 1 - Year 1 of Title I School Improvement which means the school has failed to make AYP in Reading and/or Math for two consecutive years and is required to offer public school choice.

Option 2 - Year 2 of Title I School Improvement which means the school has failed to make AYP for two consecutive years after being identified for Improvement and is required to offer public school choice and supplemental educational services.
