Procedures For Charged Meals
Students at Pulaski County High School, Dublin Middle School and Pulaski Middle School will not be allowed to charge meals.
Students at all Elementary Schools will not be allowed to charge breakfast, but will be allowed to charge lunch. The following procedure will be in place to handle these charges.
- The School Nutrition Staff will keep a record of all charges. Each day that a child charges they will be given a note to take home that states, “Today I Charged My Lunch”. If a child accumulates three (3) unpaid charges a letter will be sent home to the parents. This letter will state the amount of the child’s charges and a notice to the parents that if their child has a fourth charge, he or she will be given a peanut butter sandwich, cheese stick and a milk. This will continue until the charges are paid. If this letter does not bring action from the parents, the SNP Central Office will contact the parents, either by letter or telephone. If this procedure does not solve the problem, the School Principal will be notified and the matter will be turned over to them.
- When a child accumulates three (3) charges the SNP Manager will notify his or her teacher of this by a note in their mailbox. The next school day, when the teacher takes a meal count, they will ask the child, in private, if they have money for lunch. If not, she will notify the SNP of this on the daily lunch count. This lets the Cafeteria Staff know ahead of time who needs the “peanut butter sandwich meal”. This way the staff can have the child’s tray ready when they come through the lunch line. If a child happens to get to the cashier with a regular tray, the staff will let the child have the regular meal, rather than embarrass the child by taking away that tray.
- No child will be allowed to buy a la carte items if they do not have the entire amount of money for their lunch.
- The School Office will cover the cost of the charged lunches. This money will be collected on the last day the month. The SNP Manager will be responsible for paying the School Office back the charges as she collects them.
*It is the responsibility of the parent to provide money for the child’s meals.
