HEALTH SCREENINGS
At the beginning of each new school year our school nurses conduct health screenings, which include vision, height, weight, and a visual check of the teeth and mouth. The State Code of Virginia mandates some of these screenings and the others are recommended by the Virginia School Health Guidelines.
- Screening is mandated for grades Kindergarten, Third, Seventh and Tenth.
- At the beginning of each school year your child will bring home a consent form for the above screening. Forms should only be returned to school if you choose to opt-out your child from being screened at school.
- Pulaski County Public Schools are required by law to send educational information home at the beginning of each school year regarding scoliosis.
If the school nurse identifies a problem/concern with any of the above screening you will be notified and referred for further medical evaluation if needed.
