PRINCIPAL's Message

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to the children, faculty and staff for all of your hard work in seeing that Newbern Elementary retained it’s Fully Accredited status.  It was a difficult task that took commitment  from everyone. 

We look forward to a successful year and are now beginning the 2007-2008 experience.   Excitement is high and everyone is excited about the upcoming new year.   Everyone here is committed to seeing that every child receives the best education possible.

 Again, this year grades 3,4 & 5 will take SOL tests.  Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies will be tested on line. You can help by going to http://www.pcva.us/ then go to the link for the Dept. of Education.  Here you will find practice tests with released SOL test questions your child can take.  This will help to make your child more confident when they have to take the real thing.

I would like to take this time to thank everyone for welcoming me to the Newbern Family. Thanks for making me feel at home.

Please feel free to call or come by and talk with me.  I have an opened door policy so take advantage of it when needed.
