Good evening, We have been notified by law enforcement in the last few hours that multiple threats have been made to harm the PCPS school division at some point tomorrow. We are investigating these threats, but for the safety of our children until we have more details, all PCPS schools and offices will be closed for Friday, September 6, 2024. Please know that the safety of our school community is paramount and we will provide more information when it comes available. Take care and stay safe!

PCMSPRINCIPAL
Dear Pulaski County Public Schools Community: Pulaski County Public Schools has unfortunately become the victim of a cybercriminal attack. On Sunday, we discovered irregularities in our systems. PCPS immediately retained outside experts to launch a forensic investigation and help secure our servers. We now know that this is a case of ransomware deployment. Our dedicated IT professionals are working diligently with some of the country’s leading experts in cybersecurity to return PCPS systems back to normal as quickly as possible – they are making incredible progress. Tomorrow, we intend to resume school in following with PCPS’s planned academic schedule. Know that the safety of our students is a top priority; all systems that safeguard the physical security of our school campuses are fully operational. We are confident that normal classroom teaching will continue with minimal disruption. The PCPS All-In-Tutoring program will now begin Monday, November 13th due to this disruption. While more information will be confirmed in the coming days, understand that our priority is the safety of the entire PCPS community. We are committed to addressing the situation quickly and responsibly, by collaborating with legal counsel, technical experts, and cybersecurity professionals. We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue. Sincerely, Robert F. Graham Superintendent

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT; Yesterday, the Cardinal News Media Organization posted an article about the vacancy rate of teachers in the Pulaski County Public School Division. The article listed Pulaski County schools with a 13.6% vacancy rate for the 2023-2024 school year, apparently the highest percentage in Southwest, Virginia. Unfortunately, a reporting error was made on August 5, 2023 and the 13.6% rate has now decreased to approximately 1.7% due to the correction of the error. JLARC and the Virginia Department of Education have been notified and are also making the correction to their records. Our administrative staff works hard to ensure that we hire and retain the best teachers at PCPS as we know that they are our greatest asset in helping students learn and succeed at the highest levels. We apologize for any confusion this mistake has caused in our community. Have a great afternoon!
