Pulaski County Public Schools Education Foundation holds successful relaunch meeting, plans fundraising campaign
At a special meeting held last month, community leaders gathered to officially relaunch the Pulaski County Public Schools Education Foundation (PCPSEF). At this historic meeting, a newly reconstituted board of directors was formed, and a fundraising campaign was planned.
Founded in 2007, the PCPSEF is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that allows contributors to donate to a wide range of funding opportunities to assist students and teachers within Pulaski County Public Schools. After an initial period of organizational growth, the foundation became somewhat inactive for many years, while keeping its tax-exempt status and organizational charter in place.
Recognizing the importance of community involvement and financial support, along with the growing needs, Superintendent Rob Graham started laying the groundwork for restarting the education foundation soon after arriving in Pulaski County. After a couple of small planning meetings, potential new board members were identified, and an official relaunch meeting was held on May 22, 2024.
After a warm welcome, an election for a new board of directors and officers were held as follows:
Officers
Chairman – Dr. Don Stowers
Vice Chairman – Angie Covey
Secretary – Dr. Pat Huber
Treasurer – Tim Hurst
Executive Director – Chris Stafford
Other Board of Directors:
Rob Graham – Superintendent
Josh Taylor – Pulaski County School Board
Ebony Franklin
Eddie Hale
Tina King
Erika Tolbert
After the elections were held, it was agreed that additional board members could be invited to join in the future.
Following a review of the original articles of incorporation and bylaws, the discussion turned to a new fundraising campaign. Last year, the Pulaski County Public Schools Education Foundation was added as a participant in the GiveLocalNRV Giving Day sponsored by the Community Foundation of the NRV and received a small number of donations from the public.
This year, the board agreed to direct all donations received from Giving Day to the Student Benevolence Fund to help any deserving Pulaski County students when urgent needs arise. The goal is to raise $5,000 during the GiveLocalNRV Giving Day from noon, Wednesday, June 26th to noon, Thursday, June 27th, 2024. Early giving has already begun, so the community is encouraged to go to https://www.givelocalnrv.org/organization/Pulaski-County-Public-Schools-Education-Foundation to find the Pulaski County Public Schools Education Foundation and give generously to assist our students in need.
