Pulaski County Public Schools is pleased to announce the selection of Pulaski County High School junior Jeremiah Turner to the position of Student Representative to the Superintendent and Pulaski County School Board.

Turner, the son of Charity Warden and Rajai Hines of Hiwassee, and Allan Turner of Dublin, is the first junior ever to be selected for this position.

“We are excited to have Jeremiah Turner serve as the PCPS school board student representative for the 23-24 school year,” Superintendent Rob Graham said. “I had the pleasure to meet Jeremiah on our Superintendents and Snow Cone tours. He volunteered to serve snow cones and interact with the public at four out of five of these events. His infectious and positive personality will be a great fit with our school board and the PCPS community. We are grateful for Jeremiah's willingness to serve in this capacity.”

As the Student Representative, Turner will attend school board meetings, give presentations on student concerns and ideas, and work with the board, superintendent and superintendents' staff, and high school administration to address those issues. Turner will also have the opportunity to attend Virginia Education Association and Virginia School Board Association meetings with the leadership team from PCPS.

“I am very honored to be selected for this position,” Turner said. “Having the opportunity to be a voice for my classmates is a big responsibility and I won’t take that lightly. I look forward to having the opportunity to work with our school board and the Superintendent to help make our schools a better place each day.”

Turner is a member of the new Cougar Scholars Program, the National Honors Society, and the Cougar basketball team. His current future plans are to attend college with the goal of becoming a doctor, possibly in the pediatric field. He is currently weighing his options for his college choices.
