Child Find Notice 2021-2022

What is Child Find?
Every year, under the federal law known as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), millions of children with disabilities receive special services designed to meet their unique needs. For infants and toddlers with disabilities (birth through two years of age) and their families, special services are provided through an early intervention system. For school-aged children and youth (aged 3 through 21), special education and related services are provided through the school system. These services can be very important in helping children and youth with disabilities develop, learn, and succeed in school and other settings.

Parents or guardians of children ages 3-21 who believe that their child may have a disability or require special education services may call Pulaski County Public Schools, Department of Special Education Services (540-994-2546) to speak to a specialist who can explain the identification process.

Parents, relatives, public and private agency employees, and concerned citizens are urged to help the Pulaski County Public School District find any child who may have a disability and need Special Education services. The District needs to know the name and age, or date of birth of the child; the name, address, and phone number(s) of the parents or guardian; the possible disability; and other information to determine if Special Education services are needed.

If you know of a child who lives within the boundaries of the Pulaski County Public School District, who may have a disability, and may need but is not receiving Special Education services, please call Pulaski County Public School District or send the information to:
