Congratulations to the PCHS Career and Technical Education Center (CTE) and Mrs. Carley Pavan-Ballard, PCHS Agriculture Teacher, who found out Tuesday that they are one of 19 recipients in the Commonwealth of a grant on behalf of the Virginia Outdoor Foundation. The grant, which is for an incredible $25,000, will be used to help further the Sensory Trail at PCHS, which has been designed, constructed and maintained by students. It is one of only a handful of outdoor, ADA-compliant sensory learning classrooms in the Commonwealth and allows our students with visual, mobility or other impairments the opportunity for more access to hands-on labs or work. The Sensory Trail and Mrs. Pavan-Ballard were recognized in April as the recipients of the Earthkind Harmony Hero award for her work with the Sensory Trail with an emphasis for the project of bringing back the community’s ecosystem and on protecting the environment of the monarch butterfly. Great job!
