All-State Cheerleaders named

Five members of the Pulaski County High School competition cheer squad were recognized Wednesday when they were selected as members of the Virginia High School League Class 4A All-State Cheer Team.

The Pulaski County members of the squad were all selected to the All-State First-Team. They are senior Kimberly Lyons, juniors Laiken Landreth and Olivia Viers, and sophomores Claire Dunnigan and Madelyn Hedge.

The Lady Cougars finished as the Class 4, Region D champions for a fourth consecutive season and performed well at the state meet despite some last-minute complications.

The Lady Cougars are joined by Emily Murphy, Kylie Paulk, and Reese Chellow of Great Bridge; Kaelin Hall and Morgan Voss of Grafton; Justin Gregory, Zoe Mosley, and Bryce Everett of Dinwiddie; Madeline Freeman and Kaylee Keene of Eastern View; and Ali Smallwood, Kierston Sarner, Camryn Alvarez, Alya Mertzler, and Abby McConnell of Broad Run.

The Cheerleader of the Year is Ali Smallwood of Broad Run. The Coach of the Year is Megan Woodford of Broad Run.
