Critzer

Critzer Elementary School is proud to recognize their selections for 2022 Employee of the Year and Teacher of the Year.

The 2022 Employee of the Year is Mrs. Sharon Johnston. Mrs. Johnston has been a para-educator at Critzer for several years. She has served as a one-to-one to support a particular student, as well as to rotate through classes to assist students who need additional academic support. During the COVID pandemic, she was often called upon to substitute for an absent teacher. She never complained and did so with a willing spirit. She gets along with everyone and works as a Team member to support the students. Just a couple of weeks ago, she was hired to replace a retiring Mrs. Porterfield in the front office. It was her positive attributes that made her an excellent choice to lead the front office. She displays a love for all of the children at Critzer and is an asset to the faculty and staff.

The 2022 Teacher of the Year is Mrs. Carrie DePriest. Mrs. Depriest teaches the first grade at Critzer. While this is only her third year of teaching, no one observing her class would know. She leads her classroom through setting an example of what a life-long learner is and she instills a love of learning in all of her students. Mrs. DePriest exhibits patience and understanding with even the most struggling child. She builds and maintains a positive rapport with the parents of her students and works as a Team Player with her grade level peers in preparing the most engaging lessons for her students. No staff or faculty member has ever seen Mrs. DePriest in a bad mood. She is always smiling and has a contagious positive attitude. Everyone loves Mrs. DePriest and parents all want their first graders to have her as their child’s teacher. Critzer Elementary is very proud of Mrs. DePriest and is lucky to have her as a member of our faculty.
