Strength of schedule continues to hold the Pulaski County Cougars in the running for a spot in the Class 3, Region D football playoffs begin November 10.

 

Magna Vista (8-0) stays at the top of the mountain with their 27.00 rating. William Byrd (7-1) is second with a 25.87 rating.  Christiansburg (7-2) is in third with a 24.66. Lord Botetourt (6-2) is third at 24.25. Each of these four teams have clinched their spot in the playoffs.

 

Abingdon (5-3) is in fifth place this week with a 21.37 rating. They defeated Ridgeview 49-14 Friday. Bassett (4-5) is sixth with a rating of 19.55. They lost to the undefeated Magna Vista Warriors Friday 10-27.

 

Pulaski County remains in the seventh spot with a 2-6 record and 18.12 rating. With Hidden Valley on the schedule this week and Cave Spring set to wrap up the regular season, the Cougars need to find a way to win to secure their standing.

 

Staunton River (3-5) is in the eighth spot with a rating of 18.00. The Golden Eagles are going to have a tough final two weeks with William Byrd and William Fleming on the schedule.


Only the top eight teams in Class 3, Region D, enter the state playoffs at the end of the regular season.

 

The Cave Spring Knights (3-6) are knocking on the door at ninth with a rating of 17.55. They have a bye week this week before traveling to play Pulaski County.

 

The remainder of the list includes Carroll County (2-6, 16.50), Northside (2-6, 16.37), Hidden Valley (1-7, 15.50), and Tunstall (1-8, 13.66).
