The Pulaski Middle School volleyball team suffered its first loss of the season against a strong Titan squad. The Cougar spikers fought hard to take set one 25-18. However, Blacksburg took the second set 25-22 and the tiebreaker 15-13 to drop the Cougars to 4-1 on the season.

In the opening set, Comley Meyer led the Cougars from behind the service line, going 6- for-6, while Jovi Perdue finished 5-for-5, and Kiylee Taylor and Riley Shepardson were both 4-for-4 as PCMS was perfect from the service line. Shepardson led the Cougars’ offensive attack, connecting on seven hits. Meyer added four, Taylor two and Abby Bishop one. Perdue and Lainie Cobbs combined for 11 assists and four tips. The top passers were Meyer, Perdue and Raegan Dean.

In the second set, Kiylee Taylor turned in an 8-for-8 performance from the service line, while Cobbs was 4-for-4, and Perdue 3-for-3. The Cougars tied things up at 22-22, but could not put the set away. Bishop, Shepardson and Meyer each collected four hits, Chloe Thompson chipped in three, and Taylor two. Perdue and Cobbs teamed for 15 assists. Bishop was the team’s top passer.

In the deciding set, Bishop and Perdue were both 5-for-5 from the line. Taylor connected on three hits and Shepardson added two. Perdue and Cobbs combined for four assists and five tips. Meyer was the top passer.

In the B game, Sophia Exconde, Zaley Manss, Kara Tabor, and Maria Sanchez all went 2-for-2 from the line as the Cougars fell 12-15. Tabor had three hits, McKenzie Robinson and Exconde each added one. Addie Phillips and Vivian Hash combined for four assists.
