
The 2025-26 All-River Ridge District Girls Basketball team list was released Wednesday, and four Lady Cougars have been recognized for their efforts this season.
Freshman Cha-Cha Ratcliff-Calfee and junior Palyn Sweet were named to the first-team as guards.
The remainder of the first team includes Bailey Rider, Gabby Crawley, Emme Custer, and Kourtney Goens of Salem; Ainsley Gibson of Patrick Henry; and Jasmine Coleman of Christiansburg. The RRD Player of the Year is Bailey Rider of Salem. The RRD Coach of the Year is Scott Jester of Salem.
Two additional Pulaski County players were listed on the second unit. Sophomore Kaliyah Green was listed as a second-team forward. Senior Ellie Macdonald is listed as a second-team guard.
The remainder of the second unit includes Ashlyn Braaten and Scottie Leonard of Cave Spring; Kelsey Dudley of Hidden Valley; Kensi Jones of Blacksburg; and Sophia Russell and JC Coleman of Christiansburg.
No Lady Cougars were included in the honorable mention list. That list includes Dotti Dorlini of Hidden Valley, Ella Day and Danyelle Lewis of Blacksburg; and Eriyanna Kessler of Patrick Henry.
The Lady Cougars defeated William Byrd Tuesday evening by a final score of 60-30 to open the Region 3D playoffs. Thursday, they will travel to Northside High School in Roanoke to take on the Staunton River Eagles for a chance to play in the Region Championship game and a chance to play in the VHSL State Playoffs
