College Bound Cougars

College Bound CougarsThe Pulaski County High School gymnasium transformed into a hub of celebration Thursday afternoon as eight standout Cougars officially committed to the next chapter of their athletic and academic careers.

Surrounded by a crowd of parents, coaches, and school administrators, the student-athletes signed their National Letters of Intent during a rescheduled Senior Signing Day ceremony at 4 p.m.

The event highlighted the depth of the Cougars’ athletic programs, with representatives from track and field, softball, and football set to compete across various collegiate levels.

A Strong Finish for Track and Field

Two of Pulaski County’s premier runners are headed to Division I programs. Cole Boone will remain in the New River Valley, officially joining the Virginia Tech track and field team. Joining him in the D-I ranks is Tanner Linkous, who signed with George Mason University.

Softball Dominance

The Cougars' softball program saw a massive wave of commitments, particularly to Sweet Briar College. Teammates Shelby Dobbins, Sophia Hall, and Emma Nester will remain a trio at the next level, all signing to play for the Vixens.

Additionally, Carley Hight will continue her softball career at Emory & Henry, further cementing the program's reputation for developing college-ready talent.

Gridiron Bound

On the football front, two Cougars secured their futures on the turf. Carter Wilson signed with Bridgewater College, while Bryant Nottingham joined Hight as a future Emory & Henry Wasp.

"We are incredibly proud of the hard work these young men and women have put in, both in the classroom and in competition," PCHS AD Scott Vest said. "Today is about recognizing their commitment and the support of the families and coaches who helped them reach this milestone."

As the final pens were set down, the afternoon concluded with photos and cheers for the Class of 2026. For more photos from the ceremony, visit Pulaski County Sports on Facebook.
