Cougar Nation Flag

If you haven’t taken the time to check it out yet, you may want to visit some of the many new pages that are now available on the Pulaski County Public Schools website, www.pcva.us.

With information ranging from current schedules to how your favorite team did in 1982, the site is a work in progress that hopes to record the history of not just the school system’s many athletic programs, but also the fine arts, clubs, and many other competitive academic programs offered through PCPS.

What kind of history, you ask? The goal is for each sport to have a current page with the rosters, schedules and scores that are updated after each game. In addition to that, the goal is also to have a “Former Player” page for each sport that records those players that moved on to the college level and above. A program history page will seek to record the individual and team records for each sport, along with the coaching history and the final outcomes of each season.

For the fine arts in Pulaski County Public Schools, that history is equally as rich and important. Not everyone knows the historic number of trophies currently housed in the PCHS Band room. Not everyone knows that the Golden Cougar Marching Band hosts and annual band competition known as the Cougar Band Classic that brings a large number of bands from around the Commonwealth to Pulaski County, where they spend the day in competition.

How many people are aware that our PCHS Theatre Arts Department has earned FOUR State Championships? How many people have heard our award winning PCHS Choral Department in concert? Pulaski County also has a strong Art Department that is growing.

PCHS and PCMS also have a wide variety of clubs and organizations that compete outside of the sports arena. HOSA, DECA, SkillsUSA, MACC, the PC Fishing Team (which recently saw their first-ever State qualifiers and first place finish in a tournament), and the Dance teams are all examples of Pulaski County students shining the bright light of success on our school system and county.

To access all of this information and more, be sure to visit www.pcva.us. Once you are one the site, move to the “Athletics/Activities” link on the top menu bar. From there, select either PCHS or PCMS. This link can also be used to purchase tickets to PCHS sporting events and to download the VHSL Physical form needed to participate in athletics.

From each of the athletics/activities pages, you can view the event calendar that is updated daily by the AD of each school, purchase tickets, and use the dropdown menus to view any of the athletics or activities offered by our school system.

Keep in mind, this portion of our website is still a work in progress as we continue to gather historic information and update current events.
