PCMS Cougar Golf Team

The Pulaski County Middle School Golf team recently completed a perfect undefeated season, winning all nine of their matches. The team has beaten Blacksburg, Scott Memorial, Fort Chiswell, Christiansburg, Galax, and Rural Retreat in various matches throughout their season.

In their final match of the season, the Cougars recorded a team score of 114 to earn the win, overpowering Fort Chiswell by 35 strokes (149), Rural Retreat by 50 strokes (164), and Scott Memorial by 52 strokes (166).

The final match was held at the Wytheville Golf Club in a six-hole match format Thursday, September 21.  The Cougars were again led by eighth-grader Evan Singleton, who turned in an even par 23 score. Eighth-grader Will Rackaway recorded a score of 25, with fellow eighth-grader Mikey Gonzalez recording a 29 to round out the top four. Sixth-grader Owen Viars turned in a 38. Seventh-grader Hunter Norman recorded a 37. Seventh-grader Noah Allen posted a 42. Sixth-grader Aubrey Bauer recorded a 47.

This is the second season of golf at PCMS and the first hopefully many more successful seasons for the program. The younger Cougars have shown incredible growth throughout the season and are expected to add talent to the varsity team next season. The team is led by Head Coach Chase Dunnigan.
