The Pulaski Middle School Volleyball Team dropped its second straight match this past week as the Cougar spikers fell to Read Mountain, 15- 25, 23-25. The loss saw the Cougars’ record drop to 4-2 on the young season.
In the opening set, PCMS jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but allowed Read Mountain to battle back. Pulaski cut the lead to one 10-11, but fell behind again and could not get closer than four, the remainder of the game.
Jovi Perdue led the Cougars from behind the service line, going 4-for-4, while Chloe Thompson, Kiylee Taylor and Riley Shepardson were all 2-for- 2. Shepardson connected on four hits, Thompson added two and Taylor one. Perdue and Lainie Cobbs teamed for six assists. Raegan Dean and Comley Meyer were the top passers.
In the second set, it stayed around a four-point game, until the Cougars went on a run to tie the contest at 22-22. At 23-23 and the Cougars serving, Read Mountain called a time-out. The Cougars missed their next serve giving the point and serve to Read Mountain. Read Mountain served the final point for the win.
Meyer was 5-for-5 from behind the line, Cobbs was 4-for-4, Taylor 4-for-5, Shepardson 3-for-4, and Perdue and Abby Bishop were both 2-for-2. Leading the Cougars’ offensive attack was Bishop with three hits. Shepardson added two and Taylor one. Perdue and Cobbs combined for four assists and three tips. Perdue was the top passer.
The Cougars won the B game 25-17. Sophia Exconde led PCMS from the service line going 5-for-5 and was the team’s top passer. Kara Tabor tallied four hits, Exconde three, and Maria Sanchez and Zaley Manns each added one. Vivian Hash, Addie Phillips and Axton Davis teamed for nine assists.
