The second meeting between the Pulaski County Middle School volleyball team and Andrew Lewis did not go as the Cougar spikers had hoped. In the teams’ first meeting, the Cougars claimed a three-set victory, but on this evening it was Andrew Lewis that captured the three-set win, 23-25. 25-21. 15-8.

In the opening set, the Cougars missed just one serve. Lainie Cobbs led the way with a 9-for-9 performance. Comley Meyer was 5-for-5 and Chloe Thompson 4-for-4 for PCMS. Meyer and Riley Shepardson each tallied two hits and Kiylee Taylor chipped in one. Cobbs and Jovi Perdue teamed for five assists. Raegan Dean and Shepardson were the top passers.pcms logo

The second set was close the entire way. Thompson led the Cougars’ offensive attack with five hits. Meyer, Taylor and Shepardson each added two. Cobbs and Perdue combined for eight assists and four tips. Top passers were Meyer, Dean, and Perdue were the top passers. Taylor led the Cougars from behind the service line, going 5-for-5, Cobbs was 4-for-4, Meyer 3-for-3 to lead the way.

In the deciding set, the Cougars were perfect from the service line. Taylor was 3-for-3 and Kara Tabor was 2-for-2. However, the Cougars could not get their offense going as they recorded just two hits. Meyer and Tabor each had one. Dean, Perdue and Meyer were the top passers.

The Cougars dominated the B game, 25-7. Maria Sanchez led the team from behind the service line, going 7-for-7. Zaley Manns and Vivian Hash were 6-for-6, McKenzie Robinson was 2-for=3, Sophia Exconde was 1-for- 1, and Addie Phillips was 1-fo-2. Sanchez connected on two hits, while Hash and Exconde each added one. Hash had three assists and a tip. Exconde and Manns were the top passers.

The Cougars will host Caroll County on Tuesday.
