PULASKI—The Pulaski County Middle School volleyball team opened the 2026 season on
Tuesday evening with a victory over visiting Andrew Lewis. The Cougars claimed a 25-20, 25-
12 win to open with a 1-0 mark.
Nerves got the best of the Cougars early allowing their Salem opponents to jump out to a 13-9
lead in the first contest. Eventually, the Cougars would tie things up at 14-14 and things stayed
tight until the end. It was 22-20 but the Cougars took control at this point and never looked back.
PCMS collected 20 hits in the first game with Lainie Cobbs, Axton Davis and Addie Phillips
combining for 18 assists and three tips. Comley Meyer recorded six hits, Riley Shepardson and
Zaley Manns each added five and Abby Bishop four. Top passers were Maria Correa and
Shepardson. Phillips was the top server, going 5-for-5, Meyer and Manns were both 3-for-3, and
Bishop and Axton Davis were both 2-for-2.
In game two, Meyer and Manns led the way with three hits each. Shepardson and Sophia
Exconde each added two hits, and Kara Tabor chipped in one. Cobbs and Phillips joined forces
for seven assists, and Manns added one. Phillips was 8-for-8 from the service line and Meyer
was 6-for-6. The top passes were Raegan Dean, Cobbs, Phillips and Meyer.
In the extra games, the Cougars won 25-4 and 25-7. In the first game, Ava Thompson was 13-
for-13 from the service line, Ava Cash was 5-for-6, and Axton Davis was 3-for-4. McKenzie
Robinson tallied four hits, while Davis and Thompson teamed for five assists and a tip. Top
passer was Robinson.
In the second contest, Dean led the way from the service line with an 8-for-8 performance.
Davis and Thompson were both 5-for-6, and Cash was 3-for-3.Tabor and Thompson each had
one hit and Davis had one assist. Robinson was the top passer.
The Cougars will host Auburn on Monday.
