PULASKI—The Pulaski County Middle School volleyball team raised its record to 2-0 on
Monday, as the Cougars claimed a 25-7, 25-10 victory over the visiting Auburn squad.
The Cougars jumped out to an early 12-2 lead in the opening contest and never looked back.
Riley Shepardson posted a 7-for-8 performance from behind the service line for PCMS, while
Zaley Manns and Lainie Cobbs were both 6-for-6, and Maria Correa was 3-for-3. The Cougar
spikers collected seven hits, led by Comley Meyer with five. Abby Bishop added two. Cobbs and
Addie Phillips teamed for seven assists. Top passers were Shepardson and Raegan Dean.
In the second contest, the Cougars got off to a slightly slower start, but finished strong. Axton
Davis went 5-for-5 from the service line, Shepardson 4-for-5, Cobbs 4-for-4, and Correa and
Bishop were both 3-for-3. PCMS recorded 11 hits,led by Meyer and Bishop each with four.
Manns chipped in two and Shepardson one. Cobbs and Phillips combined forces for 10 assists
and three tips. Top passers were Meyer and Dean.
In the extra game, the Cougars took a 25-7 win. Ava Thompson went 6-for-6 from the service
line, Laila Sigman was 5-for-5, Ava Cash 4-for-4, and Davis 3-for-4. The Cougars had two hits
and Thompson had one assist.
The Cougars host Christiansburg today at 4:30.
