CHRISTIANSBURG-The Pulaski County Middle School volleyball team traveled to Christiansburg this past week and came away winners. The Cougar spikers topped Christiansburg, 25-9, 25-5 to push their record to 8-0 on the season.
Comley Meyer led the Cougars from behind the service line, going 12-for-13. Riley Shepardson was 5-for-5, and Zaley Manns and Lainie Cobbs were both 2-for-2.
The Cougars managed just three hits in the first contest, as Shepardson, Meyer and Manns each tallied one. Cobbs and Addie Phillips teamed for three assists and five tips. The top passers were Meyer and Raegan Dean.
In the second contest, Axton Davis posted an 11-for-11 performance from behind the service line, Cobbs was 9-for-9, Manns 3-for-3, and Shepardson 2-for-2.
The Cougars were perfect from the line. Manns led the Cougars’ offensive attack in this game as she tallied six hits. Meyer added two, and Vivian Hash, Abby Bishop and Shepardson each chipped in one. Cobbs and Hash teamed for eight assists and five tips. Dean, Shepardson and Meyer were the top passers.
The PCMS second team won 25-9, 25-13. Quinn Austin was 4-for-4 from the line, Dean was 5-for-5, and Phillips was 5-for-6. Phillips and Ava Thompson combined forces for eight assists with McKenzie Robinson notching four hits, Austin two and Hash two each, and Thompson one. Robinson was the top passer.
