Pulaski County Public Schools has developed a new honor that students, staff, faculty, and members of the community will begin seeing more often in the future. We are pleased to introduce the official "Cougar Pride" coin. Fashioned after military challenge coins, these coins will be presented to individuals who allow their Cougar Pride to shine. This award will be presented to those who shine a positive light on our schools, our school system, and our community. Members of the Pulaski County School Board have begun receiving these coins to present at their discretion. Shown in this photo are the initial design and the final product.

The PCHS Theatre Arts Department will be presenting Gilbert and Sullivan's hilarious operetta Pirates of Penzance THIS WEEKEND ONLY! Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. This musical has familiar songs that feature lots of word play, quick repartee, and witty dialogue. There are pirates, keystone cops, damsels in distress, and a Modern Major General. Frederick is a young man who was mistakenly apprenticed to a band of bumbling pirates (all of whom are orphans) until his 21st year. At the opening of the play, he is set to be freed of his indentures. Unfortunately, his nanny believes that he will now stay with her as her husband, when he meets a bevy of beautiful maidens on the island where he is now stranded. They are all daughters of a Modern Major General. Mistaken identities, pirates kidnapping the daughters, and a rousing tribute to Queen Victoria ensues. Tickets are $7 each or 5 for $25. Thursday night is teacher, faculty, staff badge night (Free admission for you and a guest with a school badge). Sunday is Senior Night with each senior being recognized and the 2022-23 Theatre Season announced. The show is approximately 2 hours with intermission (and will delight all ages).

Pulaski County Public Schools would like to recognize James Johnson and Bruce Keller for being selected to the All-Virginia Choir. The Virginia Choral Directors Association sponsors All-Virginia Chorus each year. There are 16 districts in the Commonwealth of Virginia and each sends a total of 24 delegates to All-State; 16 students from each district participate in the Mixed Chorus while eight delegates from each district participate in the Treble Chorus. All students who audition for All-Virginia must first be selected to participate in All-District Chorus. After this, they are eligible to audition for All-Virginia. Students must place first or second in their voice part to be selected as an All-state member. James Johnson is a PCHS junior who placed first in the Tenor 1 division. Bruce Keller is a PCHS junior who placed second in the Bass 2 division. Both students will travel to Richmond on April 21-23 to represent Pulaski County High School and District 7 as members of the 2022 All-Virginia Chorus. They are members of the Mixed Chorus which will be under the direction of Dr. Paul Head from the University of Delaware.
